Overcoming Satanic Attack
Temptation or persecution is not a sign that
you are a wicked person. It is no sin to be tempted. The sin comes only when
you yield to temptation. Satan attacks the children of God in diverse of ways
just to squeeze out the last drop of faith from them; “For the thief came not
but to steal, kill and to destroy…” his activities is on the rampage of the
world looking for whom to devour. He one way or the other must have come to
you. He sometimes have overcome you or about to but you are about to stand on
your feet again through Jesus Christ that love us.
Today at Eternal Issues we will be using a very
popular figure of similar circumstance ‘JOB’ as a case study. Job was a man of great wealth. He had three
thousand head of sheep, three thousand Carmel, five hundred yoke of oxen, five
hundred she asses, and a very great household of children and servants. In the
economy of that day he was “The greatest of all the men of the east”. The devil
attacked, and he lost everything in one day. Going from a millionaire to a
pauper in an hour.
The devil attacked the source of his livelihood.
In a similar way, the devil attacked Jesus by urging him, to jump off the
pinnacle of the temple. This he (devil) did to challenge his faith in God just
as he did to Job. Just as the devil tested the commitment of Job, he attacks us
in many areas, especially, in the areas where we are weakest.
How He
Overcame
By Holiness
Job was a man of integrity and honesty before
God and in dealing with his peers. Job was able to undergo his trial without
cursing God because he and his family had been living righteously before God.
Holiness in times of trial does not arise from
a careless lifestyle. If you would be strong in difficult times, live in
reverent holiness before God all the time. When the devil comes, does he find
in you a lust or character flaw where he has a basis to work? If meets weakness
he will operate on weakness. But with God it is never too late, once you have
discovered your weakness, it is time you return to God and plea for mercy and
He will strengthen your weakness and help you to be strong enough to withstand
the devil until you are fully recovered of all your lost.
By Faith
Reverence toward God stands out as a major
quality in Job. He experienced that goodness which God has laid up for those
who reverence Him and trust in Him (Psa. 31:19). In times when we walk in darkness
and have no light, we can safely trust in the Lord God (Isa. 5:1). We don’t
lose anything by trusting God but we lose everything when we do not. There is
no question that Job was committed to God. It is visible in his cry “I know that my redeemer liveth and, that He
shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” Job 19:25. His in-depth trust in the saving power of
God aborted every effort of his family and friends to curse God and die. Please
do well to read Hebrew 11.
By Standing
On His Promises
The scripture from Genesis to Revelations are
all filled with God’s promises and extra-ordinary victories of those who stand
on those promises and act. God said; “put me in remembrance of my promises”
Hold on when you do not understand. We read in the
book of Job and know the spiritual warfare going on over Job. But he did not
know it; He knew only that he was suffering more than any Person in human
history. Yet he held on to his faith in God even when it seemed that God had
deserted him. God has promise never to leave you all by yourself in troubling
times. The devil is only trying to cover your eyes from seeing God in action
over your story. “I will never leave you, nor forsake you” Joshua 1:5. Thus
said the Lord.
Be committed to God and His righteousness and
you will surely overcome no matter how impossible it seems for with god nothing
is impossible. When trial comes our way, we are expected to look to God rather
that to circumstances; “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so
shall the son of man be lifted up that whosoever believeth in him shall not
perish but shall have everlasting life”. John 3:14. Trusted me; your faith in
God will hold you steady when the way is rough.
As you step up with your faith in God. May he
dry your tears and restore your possession in double fold.
Prayers
And He spoke this parable to tell them that men
ought always to pray and not to faint in heart. Luke 18:1
1. Lord, do not let me give in to this trial;
give me the strength to overcome in Jesus name. Amen.
2. Lord, be my light in this darkness as I walk
through the shadow of death in Jesus name. Amen.
3. Devil, I know you came to steal, kill and
to destroy my blessings, but Jesus has come to destroy all your works in my
life in Jesus name. Amen.
4. I refuse to fall for you, you trap of the
devil. I overcome you by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus name. Amen.
