Hope Built on the Rock (determine your end now)

“Therefore, whosoever, hears this saying of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock; and the rain descended and the flood came and the wind blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock. Matt. 7:24-25”

What makes us Christians is what we do and not just what we say. We are walking/working into eternal life and not talking into it. Here, we judge our lives and believes based on what we do knowing strongly that our rewards are apportioned to use according to our works (Rev.22:12, 13). Also we believe that we are surely going to make it as long as we are on the same page with Jesus_ doing the Father’s WILL.

The bible tells us in Matt. 11:12 that “from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of God suffereth violence and the violent take it by force”. A supporting scripture says “the law and the prophet were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached and everyone is forcing his way into it” Luke 16:16

The quest for eternal life and living an effective Christian life is the hope of humanity. The world itself craves for it despite it pretend of not desiring it. Achieving it depends on what we believe in as our source of getting there. Many people are searching for the right way to the kingdom of God but their efforts have been futile. Even Peter and the rest of the apostles failed to recognize the way to eternal, despite that the way have been with them, so they asked Jesus in John 14 what is the way?. “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father except by me” (V6). This means that except you give your life to Jesus and make Him the master of your life, your hope of eternity remains a wish.

It is a good thing that Christ has died for humanity. That the purchase of blood has been made. Now the challenge to maintain that great life has come. It is no more solely the duty of God and grace, your impact is needed. Here righteousness comes in from your part. Not the mixed, diluted and eye service righteousness, but from a heart deeply in love with God and is born of God (1 John 5:18).

Although, things we have or desire to have are all given to us, they are not expected to take the place of God in our hearts. The moment they matter much to us, then problem will rise when the demand on them will come in the form of trial. For this sake, God’s children should see that the money, fame, and all the passions of the world cannot save except the Blood of Jesus and our righteousness. That is where our passions and hope lies. That is what we protect, knowing that if we tell that lie just to secure that job, or have sex with a man just to get him to marry you or perhaps defraud your brother just to increase your purse, if you keep hearing he word of God and pretend to be born again, you deceive yourself because although you may succeed and eventually become happy, but your place in the kingdom of God is forfeited.

In the face of the above scenarios and more are what is known to be “trial of faith”. They determine our place in the kingdom of God. Not the things that we have or will have. “Therefore, let him that thinks that he stands; take heed, lest he falls” 1 Corinthians 10:12. “Without holiness no can see the Lord.” Added the scripture in Hebrews 12:14b.

Living in freedom from the commandments of God means you depend on other sources for salvation and this endangers your hope. The day you deeply believe on the word of God and act according to all its says, only then can you stand when prevailing circumstances expects you to fall as analogical to a house that had its foundation laid on the rock. In other words obedience to God’s words and showing reverence in the service of God are what keeps your hope alive and going.
