3 Most Powerful Tools To Become Persistence (Keep Moving Forward)
This article is written for people that have tried everything they think possible to get to a solution but have found none.
Many articles that are written on persistence are only good for a while but
later looses it efficacy because some problems are beyond human understanding
irrespective of what philosophy is saying. Despite this, one thing remains the
same; problems are greater than problems…

In our childhood, we hoped to become many things;
we hoped to build very big houses, buy airplane, buy big fancy cars, become
these, become that. But as times passed, those desires die gradually. They
didn’t die because they were not good or we didn’t desire anymore, but because
we have been faced with the realities of life: life is not a bed of roses. So
we discover that while we were yet kids we lived in fantasies which mostly cannot
be actualize till we die.
As we grow older, we realize that the things we
desired as kids require much time, thoughts, and painful actions before they
can be achieved. The demands of our destinies then caused us to choose among
varieties of choices for which we are to part with. In the quest for the
actualization of these chosen paths, we discover that at some point there are frictions
that prevent us from moving. These frictions, some of the time resist our every
effort to move. At this point, we are left with difficult decisions we never
thought of making at the beginning. These decisions really do not help in our
quest at all; rather they prevent us from getting what we want.
At this point follow these principles and see
how far you will go:
1. Build your Faith around God’s Faithfulness
People of the world believe in their wealth,
connections etc. but God’s children believe in there God; no wonder Daniel
said; “They that know their God will do exploit” (Dan. 11:32b).
The scripture from Genesis to Revelation is
filled with God’s promises and faithfulness in difficulties towards His people.
All we need to overcome this problem is to build our faith on His faithfulness.
He has never failed neither can He fails. Even if the problem looks like God
has failed you or it is over, know that the God we serve is a mysterious God
who works in mysterious ways, He may not answer you when you wanted Him to but
when He wants to. This is all because of His glory.
Hebrew chapter eleven is a book for building
faith. It is characterized by people that faced challenging situation that no
philosophy could solve except God. This book has taught me to understand that
what keep people going in difficult times is hope and not what they are seeing;
“For we walk by faith not by sight” admonished Paul in 2 Cor. 5:7.
Keep faith on God and keep moving forward,
certainly your effort will be very visible sooner. The number of people that
quit almost when they were about to win is becoming alarming because the entire
world is running out of patient, wanting solutions now or never.
Bear in mind that; after four days Lazarus was
brought back to life (John 11:38-44). After 12 years the woman with the issue of
blood was healed by mere touch of the garment (Luke 8:43-48). Even in old age
Sarah and Elizabeth were found with children (Gen. 17, 18 Luke 1:5-25). With mere
raise of a staff, the Red sea was divided in to two (Exo.14:21). With mere
words the universe came into place (Gen. 1, John 1:1-3). With only three
hundred men, Gideon conquered thousands (Judges 7). In the land of slavery,
Joseph and Daniel became rulers (Gen. 41:37-44, Daniel 2:48). God is still
doing good today. He is the same God yesterday, today and forever, He cannot
change now. Please take out time to read Hebrew 11 with emphasis from verses 30
to 40. He didn’t forsake Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego in the midst of fire,
restores Job’s possession, fell the walls of Jericho because of only praise
etc. What is making you think it has forgotten you. Only have faith and keep
pressing forward, the end of your tunnel may just be one more trial.
2. Keep Moving
It may be very difficult to move at this point.
Yes! That was even why you needed help. If you had noticed the efforts you had
made merely have little or no effects at all so you think there is no point
trying, after all its al getting nowhere.
But that’s a lie. Stop a bit and rethink, what
happens to other clocks when you remove battery from one. Do you notice they
just keep moving? If you put back the battery it joins the others to move. If
you put a partially bad battery it still indicates some form of movement. If you
put a completely dead battery, it completely stops moving. It is the same as
removing the battery. Every effort we make has an effect on our problems; we
are only too expectants or eager to leave to notice this change. What takes people
to greater height is continuously making little steps one after the other. It
is always very difficult to notice the movement of the sun from the east to the
west because it is very slow but certainly it is moving. Although it may look
foolish or unrewarding to keep acting but just keep acting. You may not see the
change today that doesn’t mean there is no change. That is what makes it life;
that sometimes small things bring big results and sometimes big things brings
small results and vice versa.
In Exodus 14, Israel was met with the most
difficult situation of their lives. The Red sea in front of them and raging
hundreds of chariots and soldiers of pharaoh at their back. They cried a cry
which every one of us could have cried; “Then they said to Moses, ‘Because
there is no grave have you taken us away to die in the wilderness?...” For it
would have been better to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the
wilderness (vs 11, 12) but God didn’t see it with them, rather He saw something
different. Moses had been comforting the people with the command; “Stand still”
but no, they ought to keep moving so the Lord rebuked Moses; “Tell the children
of Israel to go forward” and as they were picking up their luggage He said to
Moses; “Lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it (Exodus
14:11-16). At times difficult times make us forget that God can do all things. So
we forget that there is nothing impossible with God (Luke. 1:37). It also makes
us forget the joy of achieving our goals so we always want to quit, but if we
must discover if we can actually succeed then we must keep pressing forward.
3. Pray! Pray!! Pray!!!
“The He
spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not to loose heart
(faint) …” Luke 18:1. If there is anytime our prayer life should be fired
it should be in hard times. Mind you, this does not mean we relax in good
times. Have you ever notice, that whenever we are drenched by rain, our clothes
always glued to our body? That is how it is in our days of difficulties; we are
likely to be closer to God than ever, both in service and in prayer.
Prayers most of the time are not answered
because they are done with the wrong motive and in the wrong way; “You ask and
do not receive because you ask amiss; that you may spend on your pleasures”
(James 4:3). Prayers must be done with humility and pureness of heart. Luke 18:1-8,
if deduced, shows importance of consistent prayer that was why Paul admonished
the Thessalonians to “Pray without ceasing”. We need constant prayers because
it keeps the spirit alive. “Quench not the spirit” 1 Thessalonians 5:19.
We have all passed through this dark tunnel one
time or the other with our burdens all different from each other but our God is
still faithful and just to do all we can ever ask or think. Keep working and
hoping, God is still there for you. Don’t let problem weigh you down that you cannot
acknowledge God’s presence and power in your situation again. That is what the
devil wants to squeeze out of you. Be vigilant!
