The Benefits of Fellowshipping with God

To fellowship is not about holding religious meeting with people. It is the heartfelt time spent idolizing God and God alone. This is precisely the bottom line to the strength and weakness of any believer. If we backslide, it is because we have failed to keep the vow of fellowship. It is very common to be in the house of God (church) but not in the presence of God. Multitudes of people are in the church everyday yet God is looking for whom to speak to. This arouses curiosity as to why and how should such thing happen. But the reason is because we are just busy keeping religious rites and ceremonies. The reason why you hear the word of God but cannot keep it because you did not have special time and place for God in you.
Every family that must be successful and happy must create time for interaction. God’s family is not an exception.

Though I stand at the door of your heart and knock, if any man will hear my voice and open, I will come in and sub with him and he with Me. _Rev. 3:20.

We all accepted to follow Jesus Christ and became a part of His family. God’s desire is to speak to His children and listen to them as father and children. Our communication with Him here on earth is chiefly for the purpose of directing us through the journey of life and also for His praises.

All Christians vowed to constantly be with Jesus Christ as our Lord all the days of our lives whether consciously or subconsciously (that is what the name stands for). But that is an understatement. It should be all the seconds of our lives, yet whenever we want something contrary to God’s desire; we tend to shift Him aside to achieve our heart desires. This we have constantly done successfully.

To fellowship with the Lord means to think and feel the Lord. One good thing about this is that it is our spiritual shield and immunity against sin. He is with the life and the life Himself. By feeling Him at anytime and anywhere, our weak and dead spirit is rejuvenated. In other words anytime, anyplace you’re loving, feeling and thinking God, you will and can never fall for sin, because you are connected to the strength himself. “The strength of Israel cannot faint”. (1 Sam. 15:29).

We can never become righteous and enjoy life eternal if we cost our fellowship with God to our troubles or pleasures. Keeping this covenant of fellowship pleases the lord the most and it creates and build a true worshipper of God which the master Himself is seeking (John 4:23).

In the beginning before we became born again, God came into our heart, we conversed, He gave us some useful suggestions, we accepted and said; “from today, be my lord and savior.” And that was how we became born again; that is what we call fellowship. During those days, we were like newly married couples. We loved the feelings and didn’t want it to end. A day will rarely pass without thinking about our God and how we will always give Him your life and despising the worldly system. All that while, we were fellowshipping.  My friend, Jesus is not stupid to ask you today; “…where is your first love” (Rev. 2:4). That love that never thought of anything that displeases God. Sad enough, our over familiarity has killed it. We are now in God but without God.

For some of us today, the only time we pray is when we are in the church, yet we used to be effectively prayerful. Even some that prayed both in their homes and in the church noticed that their prayers only remain on their lips not from their heart which means they don’t even fell what they are saying. The words only come out as mere air. We have mostly failed in this regard because our heart now fellowship with our businesses and our quest for fame and wealth.

It is true, grace found us as lost sheep, and holiness and obedience saved us but fellowship keeps us holy until the coming of the Lord.
Fellowshipping with God is done in the mind not in the church. That is where it all started from and that is where Jesus wants to remain (Rev. 3:20). Also with Jesus in your mind, you will conform to His divine nature; being natural but walking in the supernatural.

We cannot fight sin because we are sin ourselves. All we need is to allow Jesus to stay and commune with us in our mind and sin will run away (John 1:4,5). The devil knows this very well so he subtly presents us with wealth, talents, problems and anything at all that will take away our mind from God but if we stick to this fellowship not even the devil can stop us.

After preaching to a boy, he looked at me and asked; can one really live without sin? How can one overcome sin? I smiled, not because he asked a stupid question, but because that question has been confronting me during evangelism. So I asked if he was born again but he said no. That was why I smiled, he wanted to live a sin-free life but Jesus wasn’t in his life. That is an irony. As a result man is fond of seeing the impossibility of overcoming sin from a very distance corner without having a real taste of core repentance. The scripture tells us in John 1:4,5; “In Him was and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.”

In other words, the absent of Jesus in anyone’s life paves way for sin. The problem is often we subconsciously stand in the river and still expects to remain dry. Sin and man is no different. “Therefore, come out from them and be separate” said the Lord (2 Cor. 6:17). Give Jesus a chance to stay and exercise His power and watch if by any chance you will feel the urge to sin. That is what fellowshipping with God do to us _Immunity Against Sin.
