Strength in the Hope of His Coming

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel. Who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you sand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.’_ Acts 1:10,11

Before these words came to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Peter took his fishing net, took along some disciples and went fishing because he was hopeless, thinking Christ will go and never return leaving him and the other disciples behind. How could they face the world they have earlier rejected and condemned. What would be the outcome if after Christ have gone and they are still preaching the gospel. Well Christ has come and will go and that is the end of His ministry” Peter must have thought to himself. “Nevertheless, I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart”  (John 16:7). He thought it was all over. But the pains he felt inside were overpowering him because Peter has developed serious love and respect for Jesus. Even the question asked by Jesus by the fire side only gave him more sorrow, thinking; so He is still going? Until he was assured of the second coming of the Lord, what else rejuvenated him. He picked up the mantle, called all the disciples to Galilee, commune in preparation to start from where the master has stopped for him to continue

If there is anything that should motivate us to stand for Jesus in our good times and sad, troubling times it is because we believe He is coming again. We know and believe this. We enjoin others to tell the whole world that He is coming again. No matter what happens; delay or corruption of the world. At the appointed time, he will resurface. Even the devil knows this, he hates it and fights it but there is one thing he cannot do to it_ stop it. Hence he comes to us to fight against our preparation. Bombarding us with all forms of sickness, troubles, seduction and even wealth that man so much crave for. These are his tools for distractions. Therefore let him that thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.” 1 Cor. 10:2.

We most times ask: Why is that the wicked are progressing and the righteous do not? Getting to any notable position need that you do what the world is doing else forget it. We have fought so much to be recognized by the world, yet it seems nothing is working. Our neighbors have taken advantage of us being righteous ceased our possessions, but one thing is certain: “Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent. A fire shall devour before Him. And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.” (Psalms 50:3)

This is a critical time. But we are comforted because at His coming, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint again forever.” (Isaiah 40:31 emphasis mine). Thus says the scripture that is why He is called the solid rock. When our intelligence, beauty, wealth and frame tends to seduce. Think of the glorious reappearance of  Jesus Christ and all the temptations and pains will vanish. Only Jesus stays. He is the beginning and the end.

At the His coming, we know and believe that all that were dead to sin will rise again and walk in His glory because He will crown us with majesty. Every sorrow and tears will go and be forgotten like the woman in her travail.

“Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that served God and him that served Him not.” Mal. 3:18.

Jesus is coming again, that’s why we’ll never go back to the vow of obedience and love. Only Jesus will rule forever, only Him can save, all other ground is sinking sand. All He requires is our commitment to our vow which is our righteousness. He never fails, He never fades. He never faints_ He is the only solid rock
